or
many many years now, Xavier School has claimed the Golden Stallion for
its mascot, a symbol of everything that Xavier School stands for. But
for most Xaverians,
the mascot is no more than a design they see on school stickers and logos.
Until recently.
Mr. Aids Asis, the Student Activities Coordinator of the
High School, thought that one way of building the school spirit was to
come up with an actual life-size mascot. During the High School Pep Rally
last August 29, students were surprised and amused to see such the new
mascot dancing with the X-Squad, the school's official cheerleaders, as
they performed to the tune of the "Xavier's Cool" rap. Wearing the mascot
during its debut was Joseph Palisoc (H2C), an X-squad member.
The design for the mascot costume was chosen from among entries submitted
in a contest in the high school, and the winning entry came from Louis
Co and David Gonzales, both from H2C.
The Xavier School mascot, which has yet to be named, is expected to grace
important school occasions, such as Varsity games, the School Fair, alumni
homecoming, and many others. So if you want to catch a glimpse of the
new mascot, come and join our activities!
