The event was attended by more than 300 educators and school leaders from both local and international schools and religious institutions.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The theme of the conference is a response to Pope Francis\u2019s recent encyclical, Laudato Si that challenges every person living on this planet to reflect on its current condition and to take the necessary steps to save it.\u00a0 Dr. Stephen Ritz, author of best-selling book, The Power of a Plant, founder of Green Bronx Machine, and 2015 Top Ten Finalist for the Global Teacher Prize captured the essence of this challenge in his enthusiastic and insightful <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-K9oxMXrn-Y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">keynote presentation<\/a><\/span>, \u201cGrowing Something Greater with Green Bronx Machine.\u201d<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.xs.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/0-02-06-15a2e6a85c54dd2f11b6fe1589472f106bff02f7204620db6ed9da20d76840e0_26fa55f49bb.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p><p>Dr. Ritz shared his journey of building a school community that \u201cgrows\u201d with its environment.\u00a0 He and his students have grown more than 150,000 pounds of vegetables in the South Bronx.\u00a0 The curriculum that he developed has been adopted in hundreds of schools across the United States and around the world.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/www.xs.edu.ph\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/0-02-06-68e69fa6afcd78d96451ff179123336bab6353a4f1986d4f3f8aa8333d9a669b_26fa55f67d3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"844\" \/><\/p><p>Complementing the keynote is a series of breakout room sessions facilitated by experienced and innovative teachers from Xavier School and other partner schools. The speakers showcased their school\u2019s\u00a0 programs and initiatives that promote a culture of environmental awareness among students, teachers, and staff.\u00a0 These sessions were followed by a <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1-RVZR1Pa7w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">panel discussion<\/a><\/span> that tackled some of the most challenging issues related to the role of educators and educational institutions in forming the future stewards of our planet.\u00a0<\/p><p><img class=\"aligncenter wp-image-108947
