We are pleased to announce the start of the nomination process for the\u00a02023 Xavier-Kuangchi Award for\u00a0Exemplary Alumni<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>

The award is named after St. Francis Xavier and Paul Hsu\u0308 Kuangchi, from whom the school takes its\u00a0English and Chinese names, respectively. It was established to honor alumni who clearly manifest the\u00a0attributes that define the Xavier ideal of\u00a0\u201cmen fully alive, endowed with a passion for justice and the skills for development.\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Through his service and leadership, the awardee must have had a positive impact on society, and his example should inspire our entire community to lead similarly exemplary lives.<\/span>

While we are happy to receive nominations for alumni who have led exemplary lives of service in any field of endeavor, we would like this year\u00a0 to especially solicit nominations of\u00a0alumni who have made substantive contributions through their involvement with socio-civic associations, such as family associations, charitable foundations, outreach organizations, and civic organizations.<\/em><\/span>

We would like to remind the community that because this award is for long-term and personal social engagement, the\u00a0selection criteria places particular importance on the sustained nature of the awardee\u2019s service and contributions to society, especially to poor and marginalized sectors of society.\u00a0 It is not intended to recognize particular \u201cheroic\u201d acts of service, and even less so financial contributions that he may have made to such associations.\u00a0 We would also like to emphasize that it is not the organization or the organization\u2019s achievements that we mean to recognize, but the contributions of the individual alumnus to the attainment of the organizations\u2019 goals.<\/span>

Alumni who graduated from 1960 to 2003 are eligible for the 2023 awards. We would like to invite all\u00a0members of the Xavier School community to help us identify worthy recipients of this award. Nomination\u00a0forms are available at the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) or online at\u00a0https:\/\/bit.ly\/XSKEAForm<\/a>. Deadline for submission is on July 28, 2023.<\/span>
