Xavier School, led by the Board of Trustees, held the annual Xavier-Kuangchi Exemplary Alumni Awards to honor two of its alumni at the Angelo King Multi-Purpose Center (MPC), Dec. 6, 2024.

The XKEA is conferred on an alumnus who, in his unique way, has lived out the Xavier ideal of being a man fully alive, whose talents and resources have so generously been placed in the service of others. He embodies, to an outstanding degree, the 6C\u2019s that characterize the Xavier graduate: Competence, Character, Conscience, Compassion, Culture, and Community. This year\u2019s recipients are CRISPIN CHENG DY, JR. (\u201973) <\/b>and REGINALD TIENG YU (\u201984)<\/b>.

The program began by the entrance of colors followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Fr. Arturo Borja, SJ led the opening prayer. Mr. Rodolfo P. Ang (\u201979), this year\u2019s chairman of the awards search committee, delivered his opening remarks explaining how tedious the process was in choosing the most deserving of the award. This was followed by the message from the chairman of the board of trustees, Mr. Johnip G. Cua (\u201973), who praised the two awardees for their selfless and passionate service to God and the community.

The first awardee is Mr. Crispin C. Dy Jr. from the Class of 1973. He was introduced by his batchmate, Mr. Samuel Uy. Mr. Dy reminisced the values that Xavier has taught him. He remarked that he owed many things to Xavier, i.e., for molding him to be the person that he is today. The citation for him reads: \u201cWe believe that Cris is truly an exemplary alumnus of Xavier School, not just because of the leadership roles he has assumed in these socio-civic organizations, but especially the long list of his achievements and the many beneficiaries of his projects when he held these positions of leadership.<\/i>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The second awardee is Mr. Reginald T. Yu from the class of 1984. He was introduced by Atty. Ramon Lapez, Jr., also from the same batch. Mr. Yu, who served as president of the Alumni Association of Xavier School (AAXS), recounted the lessons and experiences he had from Xavier School. He mentioned how these have been helpful as he progressed to college and career. The citation for his award reads: \u201cWe are proud to recognize Reggie for his tireless commitment to service and excellence, through over four decades of engagement with and leadership of a broad cross section of organizations. In each of these, he has never been content to simply be an active member, but has in every case played significant leadership roles, typically rising to become President.<\/i>\u201d

Fr. Joseph Y. Haw, SJ, school president, gave his closing remarks. He explained how the vision of the school, that is, \u201cmen fully alive, endowed with the passion for justice, and the skills for development\u201d is very much seen in the lives of the alumni. Fr. Jhaw also committed that the school will continue on developing men with and for others. To end the program, the school song, “Luceat Lux”, was sung by everyone–remembering the need to let one’s light shine in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n
