Last March 25\u201329, 2026, thirty-five Grade 5 students, accompanied by five teachers, embarked on a meaningful and enriching XPLORE Study Tour across the provinces of Pampanga, Bataan, and Bulacan. This year\u2019s program marked a special milestone: it was the first time the XPLORE experience was extended into a five-day journey, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in learning beyond the classroom.<\/p>

The journey began with a heartfelt blessing and send-off led by Fr. Harvey Mateo, entrusting the entire trip to God\u2019s guidance and protection. Anchored on the objective of helping students understand the historical significance of key landmarks, appreciate cultural diversity, recognize the connection between history and nature, and develop a sense of responsibility in preserving heritage and the environment, the Xplore Team eagerly set out to discover the richness of Central Luzon.<\/p>

Throughout the trip, students visited museums and churches that brought Philippine history and faith to life. These experiences allowed them to see beyond textbooks and develop a deeper appreciation of Filipino identity and heritage. A particularly meaningful highlight was the outreach encounter with the Aeta community in Bataan, where students witnessed firsthand the simplicity, resilience, and dignity of community life. Through interaction and shared experiences, they learned valuable life skills and the importance of caring for the environment.<\/p>

The experience became even more memorable at the Pawikan Conservation Center, where students witnessed the hatching of baby sea turtles and participated in their release into the ocean. This powerful moment deepened their understanding of environmental stewardship and their role in protecting creation.<\/p>

On the final day, learning continued through hands-on experiences at Duran Farm in Bulacan. Students joyfully engaged in catching fish (hito\/dalag) with their bare hands, feeding animals, planting rice, and harvesting crops\u2014experiences that highlighted the dignity of labor and the importance of sustainable living. The journey concluded with a joyful boodle fight, where students shared a meal using their bare hands, celebrating not only Filipino culture but also the bonds they formed throughout the trip.<\/p>

The Grade 5 XPLORE Study Tour was more than just an educational trip\u2014it was a living classroom where students learned by doing, reflecting, and connecting. As they return to school, they carry with them not only knowledge, but also lived experiences, strengthened values, and a deeper sense of identity and responsibility\u2014truly embodying that education is not just preparation for life, but life itself.<\/p>
