We are pleased to announce the start of the nomination process for the 2021 Xavier-Kuangchi Award for Exemplary Alumni.<\/p>

The award is named after St. Francis Xavier and Paul Hs\u00fc Kuangchi, from whom the school takes its English and Chinese names, respectively.\u00a0 It was established to honor alumni who clearly manifest the attributes that define the Xavier Ideal of \u201cmen fully alive, endowed with a passion for justice and the skills for development.\u201d\u00a0 Through his service and leadership, the awardee must have had a positive impact on society, and his example should inspire our entire community to lead similarly exemplary lives.<\/p>

While we are happy to receive nominations for alumni who have led exemplary lives of service in any field of endeavor, we would like to especially solicit nominations this year for alumni who have made substantive contributions in either of these two areas, in particular:<\/p>

(a)\u00a0\u00a0Pandemic response (in any form, and not necessarily as medical front-liners), as a continuation of sustained social\/charitable engagement<\/p>

(b)\u00a0\u00a0Volunteer fire fighting<\/p>

We would like to remind the community that because this award is for long-term social engagement, the selection criteria places particular importance on the sustained nature of the awardee\u2019s service and contributions to society, and is not intended to recognize particular \u201cheroic\u201d acts of service.<\/p>

Alumni who graduated from 1960 to 2001 are eligible for the 2021 awards.\u00a0\u00a0 We would like to invite all members of the Xavier School community to help us identify worthy recipients of this award.\u00a0 Nomination forms are available at the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) or online at <https:\/\/bit.ly\/xkea2021<\/a>><\/u>.\u00a0 Deadline for submission is on December 6, 2021.<\/p>
