Jesus said to him, “What is written in the law?
How do you read it?”
He said in reply,
“You shall love the Lord, your God,
with all your heart,
with all your being,
with all your strength,
and with all your mind,
and your neighbor as yourself.” Lk 10.25

The goal of spiritual life is to love God alone for the sake of God alone. Love God above all things for his own sake.

I love God not because I am afraid of Him. Not because I need something from God. But out of love.
