Greetings!

The month of November is designated as National Environmental Awareness Month (Republic Act No. 9512).   To commemorate this, the  Environmental Advocacy Committee, together with the Grade School and High School Science Departments, will hold an Environmental Fair 2019 entitled Nurture Nature on November 21, 2019, Thursday,  at the Multi-Purpose Center (MPC), from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

All throughout the day, our students from Grades 5 to 12 will attend the fair with their Science teachers.  Grade 4 students may go to the fair during their break time. Students will get to interact with the various environmental organizations who will showcase and talk about their products, programs, and their advocacies. The objective of this event is to encourage our students to be environmental advocates, to reinforce values of “love and care for our common home”, and to challenge everyone to champion a new lifestyle of choosing what is better and kinder for our common home.

This year,  there will be booths that will collect ecobricks (PET bottles filled with clean plastic/foil) and used Nespresso pods for upcycling into housing and artwork for sale. Other participating organizations will promote alternative lifestyles:  going vegetarian or vegan, bringing your containers to refill and buy household essentials, planning buildings with environmental features, sustainable and responsible technology, using electric vehicles or choosing to bike, making one’s own low-cost air purifiers,  using products with little or no packaging like shampoo or soap bars, and more. Speakers will share the realities of climate change, how and why going vegan saves the environment, how to reduce the environmental impact of taking care of pets, urban and organic farming at home and more!  Take photos of the event and the electric Tesla car and its electric vehicle charger that will be showcased outside the MPC.

The whole Xavier community is invited to the Environmental Fair and learn more about the different ways by which we can be more engaged and proactive in caring for our shared, common home, our environment. The fair is open only to students, faculty and staff until 3:00 p.m.  Parents and alumni may come starting at 3:00 p.m.

Respectfully yours,
