Greetings!
National Book Week is an annual event that aims to promote love and appreciation for reading. This school year, the HS LRC invites everyone to celebrate the first online National Book Week with the theme, “Libraries as Catalysts in the New Normal Environment: Changes. Reforms. Transformations”.
As we continue to traverse the online environment, let us continue to learn, read, and enjoy various books and other learning resources. We hope that the NBW activities prepared by the HS LRC will allow everyone to have fun and realize the value of reading.

Stay connected and post your ‘Quotable Quote’ on social media (FB, Instagram, and IG) and tag at least five (5) of your friends to take on the challenge.

November 23-27, 2020 | Reveal Your Character | Share with us which fictional character from literature you most resemble!
Submit your entries to hslrc@xs.edu.ph. Include the following in submitting your entries: your photo, chosen literary character, and the reason why it resembles your personality.
Selected entries will be featured on the HS LRC Schoology courses and the official social media accounts of the HS LRC. |
November 23-27, 2020 | Spoken Word Poetry Contest | Unleash your literary skills and creativity in this year’s Spoken Word Poetry Contest.
Submit your 2-3 minute video entries to hslrc@xs.edu.ph.
The deadline of submission of entries is on November 27, 2020 (Friday). Top three (3) winners will be selected based on the following criteria:
● 25% – Organization (clarity of thought, structure, and coherence) ● 25% – Delivery and Style (unique storytelling and performance) ● 25% – Language (suitable descriptive language and word play) ● 25% – Content (depth of concept and relevance of theme) Prizes: ● 1st Prize: 1500 Fully Booked GC ● 2nd Prize: 1000 Fully Booked GC ● 3rd Prize: 500 Fully Booked GC |
November 23-27, 2020 | Face Shield Design Contest | Celebrate the national book week with creativity! Invite your family and friends to create fantastic face shield designs based on books and literary characters.
Mechanics:
● Participants are encouraged to use recycled materials in creating a face shield design. ● The face shield design should be related to books and literary characters. ● Participants will take a picture of their face shield design and submit it to hslrc@xs.edu.ph. ● The HS LRC and the Art Department will choose and award the top three (3) designs. ● Winning entries will be posted on the social media platforms of the HS LRC (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). ● The output of the participants will be collected and exhibited in the HS LRC.
Prizes:

November 23-27, 2020 | You Got Booked! | Teachers and staff are invited to this year’s ‘You Got Booked!’ activity.
