Last July 13, 2019, the Hong Kong International Mathematical Olympiad 2019 (Heat Round) was held in Quezon City at the UP School of Statistics Auditorium.  Seven Xaverians brought home medals and awards from the competition:

Amery Atinon of Grade 10B – Bronze

Mikhail Borbe of Grade 9C – Gold

Miguel Borbe of Grade 9B – Silver

Jacques Derek Ong of Grade 4H – Silver

Emilio Javier Uysipuo of Grade 4H – Silver

Bryce Nicholas Chan of Grade 4E – Merit

Jaden Andreas Ang of Grade 4I – Merit

HKIMO was developed by former Hong Kong Mathematical Olympiad Team Team Leader Mr Wong Tin Chun for the purpose of promoting mathematical olympiads all over the world, linking all students with talents in mathematics, and increasing students’ interest in mathematics.

This year, 7000 participants from around the world joined the heat round, and 2500 will be joining the final round in Hong Kong. As one of the 30 qualifying countries, the Philippines will be sending its own contestants to the final round.
