Xaverian mathletes have continued to win awards and recognitions in math competitions, most recently in the Math Without Borders 2020 Finals and the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad 2020. 

MATH WITHOUT BORDERS FINALS 2020
Last August 16, 2020, the seventh Math Without Borders Finals (MWB) came to a close in Nessebar, Bulgaria, with 1620 contestants from 18 countries competing from their home countries: Afghanistan, Australia,Azerbaijan, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malta, North Macedonia, Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

The following Xigma members were recognized for their accomplishments:

  • Yuan Manolo H. Ramirez (G8) – Silver
  • Josh Daniel Cua (G11) – Certificate
  • Richwynn Ong (G12) – Silver
  • Matthew Shawn Tansiongkun (G12) – Silver
  • Marcus Sean Tansiongkun (G10) – Certificate

SINGAPORE and ASIAN SCHOOLS MATH OLYMPIAD (SASMO) 2020
Despite the pandemic situation, the Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) was able to hold its competition in an online format on July 18, 2020. SASMO is a math olympiad contest that stretches not only the brightest students, but is also aimed at instilling confidence for all students.

These Xaverians were awarded at this year’s olympiad:

  • Hugo Ramirez (G10) – Certificate
  • Mikhail Stefan Borbe (G10) – Silver
  • Miguel Sebastian Borbe (G10) – Certificate
  • Marcus Sean Tansiongkun (G10) -Certificate
  • Josh Daniel Cua (G11) – Bronze
  • Sean Chua (G11) – Bronze
  • Lyonel Ching (G11) – Bronze
  • Amery Atinon (G11) – Certificate
  • Richwynn Ong (G12) – Silver
  • Matthew Shawn Tansiongkun (G12) – Gold
